Mondopad: Touchscreen Meets The Bigscreen

iPads are cool. Androids are cool. Skype is cool and so is Go To Meeting. But add them all together, mix in your co-workers and some free food and you have the ultimate in collaboration with the InFocus Mondopad. A 55-inch 1080p LCD display with a multi-touch overlay, this big guy has an HD camera on top with a microphone array and with a 50 watt soundbar optimized for voice. A fully integrated and removable PC with an Intel I-5 processor running Windows 7 Pro and Office 2010 mans the back of the unit. With all due respect to Microsoft, it’s the iPad on performance enhancing substances.

This raises the bar for integrated meetings, collaborations across multiple sites and interactive presentations. It also includes a whiteboard as a nod to the olden days but this one has multiple layers to keep every doodle or brainstorm session intact. Include a web-browser, video conferencing with Vidtel, a cloud-based provider, along with Google chat and mobile options and you have a party.

Oh, and then there’s the feature allowing multiple Mondopads on the same network to work in sync and all the file support you need with formats such as PowerPoint (natch!) Word, Excel and JPG and Adobe PDFs.  Multiple app functionality means you can also run simultaneous features such as a Word doc and Angry Birds. Whoops, a Word doc and videoconferencing. Angry Birds while watching a Word doc and videoconferencing means you’re not getting promoted.

The Mondopad promotes itself with the tag: Present, Annotate and Collaborate and they’re right. This is a multi-functional tool with the needed versatility to accommodate meetings with multiple participants and agendas. And the beauty of the whole package is that all you need is an Internet connection. So if you’ve ever struggled with projectors, cords, and the glares of your co-workers, while you beg IT for help, you’ll appreciate this.

For more info on the Mondopad, InFocus has some great, short video clips highlighting all of its exciting features. And after you fall in love with it, you can call DataComm Plus for information about getting one (or more) for your organization.
