App Of The Month: MXMobile

Skype recently conducted a survey of 1,000 professionals at about 500 businesses of all sizes about working outside a normal office environment. Around 62% of the companies surveyed already allow employees to work remotely. Of these companies, 34% of their workforce occasionally works remotely, and of that 34% of employees say they spend around 40% of their work hours at home.

What wasn’t covered in the survey was how easy (or not) it was for co-workers, superiors or clients to communicate with out-of-office workers. Office phones, home phones, mobile phones and video are great but unified communication becomes difficult when there are so many landing places. Keeping voicemails or reaching colleagues becomes difficult when information is stored in various formats. How do you reach your partner when you don’t know her cell number offhand and it’s not in the office directory? How to you forward an internal voicemail outside the network?

MXMobile keeps your out of office workforce working.

One easy answer is the Zultys MXMobile. If you’re a fan of the award-winning MXIE Unified Communications system you’ll be pleased as it extends the desktop client to the mobile device. It integrates seamlessly into the Voice and Unified Communications system and incorporates all the necessary elements such as presence, internal extensions and directory access into your corporate communications platform. No longer is there a mystery around out-of-office workers and their availability.

The MXMobile system provides the same communication options as their onsite colleagues. They are within the company Presence system so anyone can check status. Colleagues can use the secure Instant Message system to conduct short, on the side conversations. And if you’ve ever been stymied by not having corporate directory access MXMobile allows one-click extension calling by accessing both the directory and your buddy lists.

The MXMobile can also address the obstacle of increased cost for mobile usage. It lets your company use the corporate IP PBX to initiate and carry calls that would otherwise incur mobile charges without it.

With flexibility becoming a desired component of an employee’s work package it’s vital to have a system in place to facilitate it. DataComm Plus knows how critical communication is to any company and we also know that any technology is incomplete without the high-quality service and support to back it. We offer many options to facilitate your company’s communications needs and we encourage you to give us a call to learn more.
